We’ve unbundled our services so that you get the customized and tailored legal amenities that you need and want.  Not sure which level of service you need? Call us to schedule a consult and one of our McGill Lawyers will help guide you.

What does it mean to have different levels of service?

Levels of service, unbundled services and limited scope representation are all different ways to say that you have hired an attorney to guide you for some, but not all, aspects of your legal matter.  The client is responsible for the aspects of his/her/their matter for which the attorney has not been hired.

What if I want full legal representation?

We got you!  You would fit into our “Partner” level of service.  Your McGill Lawyer will be your Partner from the beginning of your matter all the way through settlement and approval of your final documents.

Do you still represent people through trials?

You bet!  Some of our McGill Lawyers love trials (others not so much).  We always make diligent efforts to settle matters short of trial.  However, if your case cannot be settled prior to trial, we will request a trial retainer and start a new service contract for your trial work.

Clients may choose to work with a McGill Lawyer for any or all the legal process. This approach is particularly beneficial to those who want to manage and control certain aspects of their legal matter, but still need professional guidance. Unbundled services could be beneficial to anyone faced with a family law legal matter.

UNBUNDLED LEVELS OF SERVICE

Consultant

The Consultant level allows work with any attorney for blocks of time. During that time, we can discuss strategy, the law, and your options. If a matter starts at this level, a higher level of service can be added later.

Advisor

The Advisor level allows more legal guidance and representation.  Your McGill Lawyer will not attend court, but will draft and file pleadings, assist with and advise on settlement options and potential outcomes.  This level requires a retainer at the time of contract. If a matter is uncontested, this allows us to work with the opposing party directly to negotiate the terms of an agreement. Your McGill Lawyer will draft the final documents and file everything with the court.

Ally

The Ally level is reserved for collaborative divorces. This requires a retainer. Collaborative divorces require two collaboratively trained attorneys- one to represent you and one to represent your spouse. We utilize a collaborative team including at least one coach, a child specialist and possibly, a financial neutral to find full resolution of your matter. Your McGill Lawyer will be your ally through the full court process to find and obtain a full legal resolution.

Partner

The Partner level is full representation until trial.  This level requires a retainer.  Your McGill Lawyer is your Partner from the beginning of the matter all the way to the full settlement and conclusion.  They will represent you throughout the matter including at hearings, when necessary.  If the matter goes to trial, your McGill Lawyers will request a trial retainer and new contract for your trial work.
