Jodie Haferbier McGill

Jodie was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) with a B.S. in Business in 2002. While at UNO, Jodie was the captain of the Swimming & Diving Team, the 2002 Outstanding Student Scholar Athlete of the Year, and president of the Student Athletic Advisory Board. Jodie earned her J.D. Degree from Creighton University School of Law in 2005. Jodie received the 2004-2005 Outstanding Student Award from the Robert M. Spire American Inn of Court and was a CALI award winner while in law school. Soon after graduating from Creighton, Jodie joined the firm of Katskee, Henatsch & Suing, where she worked for more than five successful years. 

In 2011, Jodie founded McGill Law, P.C., L.L.O. Since then, Jodie has continued to diligently represent numerous clients in family law, adoption, collaborative law, collections, civil litigation and business related cases. Jodie has spent many hours in the courtroom representing clients in Omaha and surrounding areas. Jodie is an experienced trial and appellate attorney. 

Jodie is a trained family law mediator and collaborative professional. She is licensed in Nebraska and Iowa.  

Jodie has been a presenter numerous times at Creighton University School of law on civil litigation; family law, collaborative law and starting a solo practice.  She has also presented at Nebraska College of Law, Metro Community College, Omaha Bar Association meetings and Nebraska State Bar Association meetings.

Jodie is active in a number of professional organizations including the Nebraska Academy of Collaborative Professionals, International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Omaha Bar Association, Nebraska Bar Association, The Iowa Bar Association, The Women and Law Section of the Nebraska Bar Association, Omaha Law League, Inns of Court, and the Nebraska Women's Bar Association. Jodie is the Past President of the Omaha Law League and a past board member of the Nebraska Women's Bar Association and Women's Fund Circles. She currently serves as a Friend of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and is the current chair of the Nebraska Academy of Collaborative Professionals Steering Committee. Jodie is a graduate of the 2014-2015 Nebraska State Bar Leadership Academy and has been recognized as a Nebraska State Bar Foundation Fellow.

When not practicing law, Jodie spends time with her husband and three active children.


Courtney R. Ruwe

Courtney is passionate about helping families through the legal process. She focuses her practice on family law, probate, and civil litigation.

Growing up on a farm in Northeast Nebraska (that her family still farms today), helped build Courtney’s strong work ethic and fierce determination. She graduated from University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) with a B.S. in Political Science and Philosophy in 2011. Courtney ignited her passion for the law when she worked for the Nebraska Unicameral while at UNL. She continued her public service by working for the United States Senate. Courtney earned her J.D. from Creighton University School of Law. While in law school, Courtney was a member of the Robert M. Spire American Inn of Court, the Moot Court Board, and Omaha Law League. She received the CALI award for Elder Law; was an outstanding Moot Court oralist; and was a participant in Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ class.

Courtney has presented at the Nebraska Young Lawyers Section CLE and was a panel speaker at Nebraska Girl’s State in 2017 and 2019.

Courtney is a trained mediator and is licensed in Nebraska & Iowa.

When she is not practicing law, Courtney enjoys spending time with her son and family.


erica malloy

Erica is a transplant from her hometown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Erica graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Northwest Missouri State University in 2004. After graduating from college, Erica traveled around the east coast for a short time before finding a home in Kansas City. She began working in the legal field as a legal assistant for a real estate firm and later worked for a litigation firm. Erica moved to Omaha in 2013.

When Erica is not spending time with her dog Newman, she enjoys going to see bands and riding bikes on the trails with her boyfriend.

She has been with McGill Law since 2017.   


Jessica Mogis

Jessica has lived in Omaha since 2006. She graduated with a B.S. in Psychology and English from the University of Nebraska, at Lincoln. After graduation, Jessica traveled and lived internationally before returning to Nebraska and starting a family. Jessica obtained her Montessori certification and was a Montessori educator for five years. After co-owning and running an Omaha arts boutique, Jessica comes to McGill Law to continue her quest to learn from, support and invest in her community.

Jessica enjoys spending time with her daughters and two dogs, as well as reading, writing and listening to music.
